Emily Mallin, MD, FACP, FHM, is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix (BUMCP) and Director of the Academic Hospitalist Service at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. She is Associate Program Director of the internal medicine residency program focused on faculty development and faculty integration in clinical care delivery leadership. Dr. Mallin also serves as Chair of the GME Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Committee and as co-chair of the award-winning BUMCP Annual Housestaff High Value Idea Competition.

Dr. Mallin attended Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, followed by residency and chief residency at BUMCP. She attended the inaugural Academic Hospitalist Academy, which changed the trajectory of her career. She serves on the SHM Academic Hospitalist Committee and served on the Planning Committee of the Academic Hospital Leadership Summit at the SHM Annual Meeting, Hospital Medicine 2016. She is also involved with the Society of General Internal Medicine, the Association of Chiefs and Leaders in General Internal Medicine and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Mallin has been involved in numerous quality improvement projects related to transitions of care, medication reconciliation, health information technology and clinical documentation, in addition to clinical quality improvement projects in heart failure, renal transplant and cystic fibrosis. She assists with the longitudinal quality improvement curriculum in the internal medicine residency program and serves as a mentor to housestaff quality improvement projects across all specialties of medicine.
